Principal’s Message

The following newsletter has been sent to each student and family  in their take home folders. Please read below for more information.

Greetings Ram Families,

We hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break and some quality time with family and friends. We are now entering the 4th and Final Nine Weeks of this school year. This time of year is when we must motivate our Young Rams the most. Please partner with us in encouraging them to continue to show their best when it comes to learning and showing their best school behaviors.

For students in grades 3-5, we have State Growth Assessments approaching. Although we do not regularly discuss the State Test, it is a very important test for our students. The test should be taken seriously because it gives us very important information and data about your child. This information helps us plan instruction and supports for next school year. Please begin stressing to your child the importance of doing their very best on the test and how they should use all of the strategies they have learned from their teachers. In addition, they need to believe that through hard work and focus they can achieve. All student data is a part of their record and can reflect on them as a student.

Students in K-5 will have a series of assessments this time of year that will help measure their growth in both reading and math. Many of our students are unsure of themselves when it comes to taking an assessment. Here are some strategies we use at school that you can remind your student of the day before any upcoming test:

  • Set a mental goal for what you want to achieve- For example, I want to go up one reading level.

  • Stay calm – Take slow deep breaths. Count. Focus on a positive thought or memory.

  • Say Positive Affirmations- I can achieve. I am smart. I will do my best.

  • Use what you know- Use your paper, strategies, and previous learning.

ATTENDANCE
Daily attendance is very important to your child’s success. Attending school daily and on time will help your child become a better reader and an overall better student. They will be able to maintain routines, which reduces stress and behavior issues. They will also be able to remember information learned from previous lessons. Let’s finish the year strong by coming to school each day and on time.

Thank you for your continued support of our school.
Mrs. Reed, Principal
