Family Ram Gram Ratcliffe Elementary in white lettering on a maroon background underneath the Ratcliffe Elementary logo

Greetings Ram Families!

Seeing so many of you at our Back to School Pop-In this past Thursday was great! As we prepare for tomorrow, the first day of school, I would like every family to be aware of the following:

  • All families can walk their scholars to class on the first day. This is a great time to transition your child and leave a note about after-school transportation plans. However, it is not a good time for families to have lengthy meetings with the teacher. Please limit your time.

  • After day one, only PK and Kindergarten scholars may be walked to class for the remainder of this week.

  • All guests must park across the street and not in the car line. Unsafe driving, parking, or inappropriate language/behavior may result in your inability to visit school grounds.

  • Please be patient when picking up your child for dismissal. The first week can be abnormally busy and we need everyone to remain in their car.

We appreciate everyone's support and look forward to seeing our RAMS.

Weapons Scanners:

HCPS will phase in the daily use of weapon scanners at all elementary schools during the first few weeks of school. When students arrive at school, they will pass through the scanners. They only need to open their backpacks to remove laptop computers or tablets. As shared previously, these scanners are similar to those at theme parks or sports venues. You will recall that students had the opportunity to practice walking through the scanners last spring.
